FM reception is best, SW reception is better at nite or when an external antenna is connected, and AM reception is easily affected by the environment. Shortwave reception tips extending the antenna can significantly improve shortwave reception. Also, keep the radio away from indoor fluorescent lamps, computers, TVs, wifi, etc. Avoid listening to shortwave in thunderstorms.
